Planning to propose on a trip to Sydney, or just want to take your partner into the city for an extra special proposal? There is no better spot than in front of the Opera House or Harbour Bridge. Location sourcing is one of the services we offer our clients who choose to propose with My Proposal Co. We just love helping our clients find the perfect Sydney location to drop the knee. So, today we are going to let you in on some of our insider information – our favourite Sydney proposal locations with epic harbour views:
Dr Mary Booth Lookout, Kirribilli
Dr Mary Booth Lookout is a gorgeous reserve in Kirribilli with perfect views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House for visitors to enjoy. This is one of our favourite Sydney locations for a Sydney proposal as the views are second to none! The lookout is the perfect location for a sunset proposal, where you can watch the sun set behind the Harbour Bridge. This spot is perfect for a luxury picnic proposal setting, MARRY ME letters, a floral arch or candle-lit aisleway! Due to its popularity, it is usually busy with baby showers, luxury picnics and other small events on the weekend. So, keep this in mind when choosing the best proposal location if privacy is important to you and your partner. Fun Fact: you can catch a ferry or water taxi to Jeffrey Street wharf to get there.
Copes Lookout, Kirribilli
If Dr Mary Booth Lookout is too busy for your liking, why not try its next-door neighbour, Copes Lookout. You’ll get the same incredible views in a more intimate space for your proposal setting. Your professional photographer will be able capture the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and you and your new fiancé standing in front of your gorgeous proposal setting all in the one shot! The light up MARRY ME letters look great in this location as the focal point of your proposal setup. Pair this with florals, candles and rose petals and you’ve got your partner’s dream proposal setting! Fun Fact: you can catch a ferry or water taxi to Jeffrey Street wharf to get there.
Blues Point Reserve, North Sydney
This gorgeous North Sydney reserve is located smack bang in front of the Harbour Bridge. If you want direct views with the bridge in all its glory in the background of your proposal setting, Blues Point Reserve is the perfect proposal location for you! The reserve is usually pretty quiet during the week. So, if you want a little more privacy while you propose, without sacrificing those views, this is the spot. Complement this picture-perfect view with a long carpet runner and candle-lit aisleway. Then lead your partner towards the bridge where you will get down on one knee and pop the question! Fun Fact: you can catch a ferry or water taxi to McMahons Point wharf to get there to make your proposal experience even more special.
McMahons Point, North Sydney
Just down the road from Blues Point Reserve is the gorgeous McMahons Point, where you can get that little bit closer to the Harbour Bridge and Opera House across the water. There is a large grass area perfect for your proposal set up with unobstructed views of Sydney’s most iconic structures. There is also no fencing at this location if you are looking for a cleaner backdrop for your Sydney proposal photoshoot. Note: this spot can get quite busy on the weekends due to its amazing views. So, keep this in mind while planning your proposal date! Fun Fact: this spot is only a short walk from McMahons Wharf, so you could bring your partner to the proposal location via boat for something a little different!
Observatory Hill Park, Millers Point
This park sits right at the top of the hill in Millers Point next to the Sydney Observatory. There are multiple spots in the park that make for a gorgeous proposal location, including large trees for a fairy-light tree setting and a gorgeous rotunda with beautiful views of the Harbour Bridge and city skyline. This is one of the best places to catch the sun setting and is the perfect spot for a golden hour or sun set proposal time. Observatory Hill Park is a very popular spot to visit in Sydney. So, expect a group of tourists or a tour of bike riders to applaud when you get that “YES!” – your partner will feel like a movie star! A Sydney Observatory proposal is one for the books. Note: we suggest booking the rotunda through the council if you want to use it for your proposal to avoid disappointment.
