The Proposal:
Daine surprised Abby with a stunning white themed Pier One igloo proposal with gorgeous waterfront views of the city. Decorated with white roses, candles and cosy seating arrangements, this proposal was nothing short of perfect! Daine engaged My Proposal Co. as his proposal planners to help him set up the most wonderful Pier One igloo proposal for Abby. A professional photographer was on site to capture their special moment.
How They Met:
Abby went to an all girls school and Daine went to the all boys school in their area. They met through mutual friends while they were in school, however, they didn’t really like each other initially. Abby would see him at the train station and at parties but he had a girlfriend at the time.
Fast forward a couple of years to 2015, he had just graduated in 2014, and Abby was now in year 12. One of her best friends Tyler, her boyfriend and Abby decided to go to the Groovin the Moo festival in Maitland. About half way through the day they headed into one of the tents to see a band. Her friend Tyler yelled out saying that she could see Daine from and that they should go and say hello. Abby was reluctant as she didn’t really like him when they were at school. But, she agreed and they went over to see him. They chatted to him and his friends for a bit.
Eventually, all of the people they were with had broken off into couples and were of dancing together. They were left together. So, they then got to talking, laughing, dancing, and realised they were actually similar and had been wrong about each other during school. They watched the band San Cisco together, danced and sung loudly. At the end when her friends came to get her to go see another band, he quickly grabbed her and kissed her. Abby says “I think we both felt something in that moment because the rest is history”.
How They Proposed:
Daine told Abby he was going to organise something for them to do for their six year anniversary. Abby annoyed him for about two weeks trying to guess where they were going or what they were doing. All he would tell her was that she should buy a nice dress to wear. On the day of the proposal they both got dressed up and jumped in the car, in which she was guessing where they were heading the entire time.
Eventually, they got into the city, they parked the car near Pier One and she asked if they were staying there and if she should bring her bags. He told her to leave them so she assumed they were going to have a nice lunch. Then, as they walked inside, the concierge took them up in a lift. They walk down the hallway until they reached their room. Daine tells Abby to go first and as she walks in, she can see a beautiful room and photographer out on the balcony.
The balcony is propped up with a beautiful Pier One igloo proposal setting with white flowers, candles, and beautiful, big white chairs. They head towards the igloo and her favourite song “Home” by Edward Sharpe is playing in the background. She was almost in tears at this point and as she turns around to say something to Daine, he was already on one knee and proposed! Eventually, she said “YES!”. Abby started crying straight away.
After the proposal, they had some beautiful photos taken and celebrated with champagne in their igloo set up. It was a truly amazing moment that they will treasure and remember forever!
