The Proposal:
Michael surprised Kirsten with a beautiful vineyard picnic proposal at a winery in the Hunter Valley. This proposal was an intimate-style picnic setting with a “Will You Marry Me” banner and stunning green plants and florals.
How They Met:
Michael and Kirsten met in 2008 through one of Michael’s friends in high school. They became good friends over the next two years. In 2010, their last year of school, Michael and Kirsten’s friendship blossomed into a relationship. They have been inseparable ever since!
How They Proposed:
On the day of their 11-year anniversary, Michael had told Kirsten he planned a day at a winery in New South Wale’s Hunter Valley. They completed a couple of wine tours and then it was time for the special moment! It had been raining all day and Michael stressed to Kirsten that they couldn’t be late for the next tour. Kirsten unknowingly said “Oh I’m sure we can be 5 minutes late,” and Michael said “No, we have to get there on time.”
When they arrived at the winery, the rain had finally stopped. Michael walked Kirsten into the winery where two people, one with a video camera and another with a banner, asked Michael and Kirsten if they would like to do an interview about sustainable living. Very passionate about sustainable living, they agreed to do the interview. All of a sudden, the couple were taken to a beautiful area where they sat down. The people explained that they need to ask and answer the questions on the banners. After the third question was asked, Michael began to untie the banner hanging from the roof.
The banner came down with the words “Will you marry me.” Meanwhile, Michael got down on one knee and proposed. He was so nervous that he broke the ring box! After Michael had asked Kirsten to marry him, she burst into tears. Shortly after, the couple celebrated with a professional proposal photographer and videographer that took them around the winery. They were taken to where the vineyard picnic proposal setting was. They enjoyed a cheeseboard and a glass of wine where they admired the stunning view of the vineyards and valley.
